Facility efficiency solutions that improve building performance and your bottom line
Your building operations and maintenance significantly impact not just your costs, but overall building performance. Intelligent, efficient buildings can greatly reduce your energy consumption and maintenance costs, and improve comfort and environmental quality. ESI’s facility efficiency services provide a single point of accountability and take advantage of intelligent automation and technology solutions to operate and maintain your building in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
SITE ASSESSMENT
ESI gathers pertinent information to perform an assessment of your building and its systems, with the goal of identifying opportunities for improving energy efficiency and reducing cost. As you start down a sustainable path, this information will be your foundation for potential investments in sustainability, energy and operational efficiency.
Our site assessment includes HVAC systems and controls, lighting and the building envelope. Following guidelines published by the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) ESI’s site assessment includes:
- Documenting baseline operating conditions, hours of operation and energy consumption
- Collecting and analyzing historical energy use
- Collecting and analyzing historical system operating data
- Identifying energy savings measures and operational and maintenance enhancements that result in improvements in energy efficiency, occupant comfort or indoor air quality
- Identifying facilities and maintenance personnel training needs
- Reviewing control sequences
ENERGY MANAGEMENT
Comprehensive energy management includes both demand-side and supply-side services to manage your energy costs and ensure maximum benefit for your bottom line. ESI services and expertise in facility operations are combined with technologies and solutions that address your overall energy management opportunities. Our energy management services include:
- Real-time monitoring and load shedding functions
- On-site generation strategies
- Demand response programs
- Real-time, pricing-based control strategies
- Alternative energy options
- Assistance in obtaining utility and government financial incentives
RETRO AND CONTINUOUS COMMISSIONING
These are the keys to any successful, efficient facility. Retro commissioning is a great way for an organization to identify deficiencies in its existing systems and buildings. A typical retro commissioning service generally pays for itself in less than one year. ESI’s retro commissioning services are performed by trained service technicians, system engineers and certified energy managers. We follow up the retro commissioning activities with automated continuous commissioning applications that greatly increase the life span of systems and assets and identify any fault that occurs in the system before it becomes critical and causes excessive energy consumption or system failure. This keeps your retro-commissioned facility in peak operating condition.
Using our Building Performance Manager™ platform, we can integrate these continuous commissioning applications with preventative maintenance and work order management systems to provide a truly effective, closed-loop system for maximizing efficiency and reducing costs. Our Building Performance Manager platform provides you with easy, anywhere, anytime access to key performance data on the results.
DATA ANALYTICS
One of the greatest opportunities for energy savings lies within the ability to interpret and make sense of the data collected, managed or otherwise created by building systems. ESI’s Building Performance Manager™ platform provides advanced expert system technology. This next-generation diagnostics and analytics capability transforms data into information that can be used to make decisions and lead to overall improved performance and reduced costs. Armed with this information, actions can be taken to reduce your costs of operation.
MEASUREMENT AND VERIFICATION
Measurement and analysis are also essential to knowing how your facility consumes energy and how effectively you’re managing it. You need real-time feedback on the effects of energy conservation measures that have been implemented in order to guide the management of these measures for optimum facility performance. ESI’s measurement and verification services create monthly reports and dashboards of key building operating data: electric, gas, degree days and weather. These data points, when measured individually or collectively, offer a valuable tool for monitoring and managing your building's efficiency.
BENCHMARKING
ESI benchmarking services provide you with a rating of your building's performance compared to similar buildings in its class. We can obtain Energy Star ratings for your building or provide internal benchmarking within your facilities or areas of your business. Our environmental index offers you a measurement of the quality of your indoor environments and can be used to improve occupant comfort levels while maintaining peak operating efficiency. Combining benchmarking with dashboards and information displays, you can present key performance data and metrics to employees, students and internal stakeholders to drive awareness and change. These same dashboards and metrics can be used with your customers and the public to enhance your competitive position and generate awareness about your organization’s efforts towards efficiency and sustainability.
RISK ASSESSMENTS
Understanding the potential risk at a facility can greatly reduce the chance of an incident occurring. Risk assessments are used to develop a baseline for potential threats to personnel, assets and data. An ESI risk assessment is conducted by certified security professionals. It includes a detailed report of the potential risks, along with solutions to correct them and identify areas where cost efficiencies can be improved. |
